Whilst you are visiting any kitchen store you might be a little perplexed when you are confronted with a massive range of different types of kitchen knife. Well the reason that there are so many different types of knife is that they each are designed with a specific purpose in mind. Of all the different types of knife, though, the most diverse is the chef’s knife. If there was one piece of guidance I would give, it’s that, if you only want to buy one kitchen knife, look at chef’s knives. A good chef’s knife can be used for chopping up fruits and vegetables, slicing cooked or raw meat, slicing cheese and additional general tasks like slicing sandwiches. Ok, so just a chef’s knife in that case. But there are so many types of them. There are two things that you need to think about in shaping your choice.
Your Hand Size
If you have little hands, then you won’t want to work with a large, heavy knife. On the other hand if you have very large hands then a smaller one wil be difficult to hold and you may not be able to exert enough force. Another isue is whether you have a moulded grip or not. These might be fine for you if you have larger hands. But a a flatter handle is more suitable for you if you possess smaller hands.
The Everyday jobs You’ll Undertake
If you have other knives and you’ll mostly be using your chef’s knife for chopping up smaller vegetables and slicing meat, then a short blade may well be the correct alternative. However, if the range of tasks may include sling through water melons, then a longer blade is more required
